Dr. Richard Cole, PhD, LMFT, SAP

Dr. Richard Creighton Cole, LMFT, SAP is the Lead Staff Clinician and Clinical Supervisor at Path to Recovery Detox (PTRD). He has been working here for several years and takes pride in the high ethical standards exhibited, in addition to the excellent treatment the clients receive. Path to Recovery Detox truly puts people before profit, creates a controlled, structured, and safe environment, and treats clients with compassion and respect.

Academically, Dr. Richie earned his BA from USC in Psychology (1988), an MS in Psychology from Cal State LA (1991), and his MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles (1995 and 1999, respectively).

His first job in the field was in 1986, working as a psych tech at a residential treatment facility for people with schizophrenia. Since then, he has worked for approximately 40 different programs, primarily treating those who struggle with criminal-addictive thinking and behavior.

Licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist since 1995, and providing clinical supervision to emerging mental health professionals for the past few decades across a wide range of programs treating addiction, Dr. Richie has the academic, clinical, and life experience necessary to make him a competent, skilled, non-judgmental, and ideal psychotherapist for those who come to Path to Recovery Detox.
